Budget `should urge people to plan finances`

14/03/2008

Consumers should look at the changes proposed in the Budget and plan their finances accordingly, an industry expert has suggested.

Earlier this week, chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling announced his first Budget, which included increases in tax on alcohol, as well as a "showroom tax" on the highest emitting cars and some help for first-time buyers.

As a result, Alliance & Leicester has suggested people should plan their finances for the year ahead, taking into account any possible affects of the budget and secure debt advice where needed.

Alliance & Leicester`s Steve Jennings said: "Following the Budget re-assess your plan to ensure you have a clear picture of where you stand financially and know what additional expenditure to expect over the coming year so that you can continue heading in the right direction."

Mr Jennings added that people should check the Budget carefully to see if they are entitled to any tax breaks or extra incentives.
