Britons `react passively to debts`
11/05/2007
Many Britons avoid paying their bills on time and some even ignore them altogether, according to new research.
A YouGov survey commissioned by Skywire Software revealed that nearly one-third of people delay paying what they own each month.
An additional one million consumers ignore their bills completely, with people between the ages of 18 and 29 most likely to do so, the study reveals.
Tracey Robinson, vice president and managing director of EMEA and APAC at Skywire Software, commented: "Receiving timely payment for bills is a major issue for financial services and utility companies in terms of managing both cash flow and customer relationships."
She added that a surprise finding of the survey was that people reacted
with more haste to a colourful highlighting, saying: "Many don’t realise the impact that a well-designed bill can achieve in terms getting bills paid on time and grabbing people`s attention."
In related news, recent research by CreditExpert stated that ten per cent of Britons would ignore their debts until they reached £50,000.
