Youngsters with debt management problems `cared for`
25/04/2007
Youngsters with debt management problems make up a number of the residents at a care home on the south coast, it has emerged.
Homeless people who have issues regarding money management and other family problems have been given a lifeline by RKdia in Knighton Corner, Horndean, reports the Portsmouth News.
Currently, 12 people between the ages of 16 and 25 reside in the home, but RKdia hopes that it can cater for up to 36 individuals, the publication indicates.
Linda Groves, managing the project to recruit more mentors at RKdia, said: "Our young people normally have some issues with debt management, or problems with their families.
"They are always homeless - or without anywhere permanent to live, they might be sleeping on a friend`s settee."
Mentoring can make a difference to these children and get them back on their feet, she added.
Debt management companies also offer advice to young people struggling with their finances.
