E.On cuts gas prices by 3.3%

16/07/2009

E.On, one of the `big six` energy companies, has cut its gas prices to UK domestic consumers by 3.3%.

The price cut, which came into effect on Saturday (4th July), represents a saving of around £25 a year on average, according to the BBC. It comes only three months after the company`s last price drop, when it reduced electricity prices by 9%.

The news will be welcomed by billpayers following last year`s large price rises, which caused financial difficulties for many.

A spokesperson for Debt Advisers Direct said: "Energy prices rose substantially in 2008, and this led to financial worries for a lot of people, particularly those already in debt.

"This price cut will help a lot of people, but it won`t actually solve anybody`s debt problems. Anyone having trouble repaying debt should discuss their situation with an expert debt adviser."
