Unsatisfied energy customers `should switch now`
11/03/2009
Energy customers who are unsatisfied with their current terms should look to switch now, because `this is as good as it will get`, according to the Financial Times.
Several energy companies have recently cut their prices by an average of 10%, offering households an average saving of £60 per annum. However, customers are being warned not to expect further price cuts.
This comes despite independent analysts claiming that energy providers could cut prices by a further 10%, based on current wholesale costs, and still maintain average profit margins, The Times reports.
A spokesperson for Debt Advisers Direct said: "Switching energy providers can be a relatively easy way for billpayers to save money, especially given the recent price cuts. There are a number of websites that make this easy to do.
"However, we advise anyone having difficulty with their bills to consider why this is happening. If they`re struggling due to other commitments, such as debt repayments, then switching providers might not make enough of a difference - and more specific debt advice might be necessary."
