Finances causing women sleepless nights
14/11/2008
Financial concerns, potentially including debt problems, are causing women sleepless nights, a new survey has revealed.
Conducted by Bupa UK Health Insurance, the research found that nearly half of women reported feeling stressed in their everyday lives, compared to just four in ten men.
It was also found that nearly 60 per cent of women fear for their finances, compared to less than half of their male counterparts.
"It`s not so much the battle of the sexes - but the battle of the stresses. Women are certainly bearing the brunt of Britain`s stress both at home and in the workplace," stated Dr Paula Franklin, deputy medical director for Bupa UK Health Insurance.
She added that the credit crunch is serving to make things worse for women.
Indeed, consumers may be right to worry, with Insolvency Service figures recently revealing a rise of 12 per cent in the number of consumers going bankrupt in the third quarter of this year compared to the second.
