Internet users are looking for more and more second-hand goods, according to Hitwise, an Experian company.
In the last 12 months, Hitwise reports, the number of internet searches containing the word ‘second-hand’ has increased by 22%, while Classifieds websites have seen 47% more traffic.
In the last 12 weeks of the analysis, the most common ‘second-hand’ searches were:
· second hand cars
· second hand books
· second hand car prices
· second hand furniture
· second hand bikes
“These statistics are a reminder of how the internet can help people cut their spending and stay out of debt,” said a spokesperson for Debt Advisers Direct.
“It’s often claimed that the web encourages spending, but reports such as this emphasise how shopping online can help people track down cheaper deals – for anyone struggling with debt, buying second-hand goods can be an excellent way of saving money.
“If they find they need more help managing their debts, we’d recommend they seek expert debt advice as soon as possible.”
