Credit card debt management schemes `a good idea`
02/05/2007
Debt management schemes aimed at credit cards are rising in popularity, according to an online credit card guide.
These plans are particularly useful as the amount of credit card debt rises at "an alarming pace", Credit Cards GB indicates.
A debt management scheme offers advantages for those looking to get out of debt, the company claims, such as the chance to learn something from the experience.
"The reason that credit card debt management systems are so popular is because they not only help you to get out of debt, but they also help to educate you so you are less likely to get back into debt," it says.
Not applying what is learned is likely to send someone back into debt, the firm adds.
Finally, it advises those who look to enrol in a scheme that they should be careful not to miss a payment, because it would "make things a lot worse".
Total credit card debt was £54.5 billion in Britain in February, according to Credit Action.
