The cost of so-called "newly-wed nesting" is causing many people in the UK to risk getting into debt problems, it has been suggested.
According to figures produced by AA Personal Loans, 3.4 million Britons are experiencing financial strain as a result of nuptial expenditure.
It suggests that the costs of setting up home with a spouse are often poorly planned for, with bills from property purchases, holidays and home decorations mounting up for some couples and causing debt issues.
"The true cost of marriage is often underestimated by couples focussed on their wedding day and forgetting about the other financial demands the first year of marriage can bring," warned Mark Huggins, head of AA Personal Loans
In other spending news, comparison site uSwitch recently published figures which suggested that credit card spending in the UK is on the increase, having grown by an average of £179 million per quarter over the last year.
