15/02/2008

A TV personality famed for his love of numbers and sums has been declared bankrupt after years of debt problems and financial worries.

Angus Loughran - known to millions as Statto from the cult show Fantasy Football League - failed to pay his council tax due to mounting debt problems arising from his love of betting.

The BBC racing pundit was declared bankrupt after being brought to court by Trafford Borough Council.

Bankruptcy normally lasts for one year, during which time consumers lose control of their assets and cannot get credit for over £250 without permission.

Mr Loughran said: "I have ignored letters from the local council, and probably been a bit naïve.

"But it`s something I can hopefully sort out. I don`t honestly know what, if anything, I owe them."
