Extra bankruptcy help welcomed

10/01/2008

Extra government help for businesses and consumers who file for bankruptcy has been welcomed by a major financial institution.

Last month, local government minister John Healey announced that companies in administration will be exempt from empty property rates which are charged to both businesses and personal tenants.

This move has been approved by R3, which claims earlier decisions went against common sense in the bankruptcy procedure.

President of R3 Patricia Godfrey said: "This decision couldn`t have come at a better time. With the effects of the credit crunch increasingly likely to be felt during the new year, this move will help administrators save business and jobs."

R3 is the trading name of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
